Varec Employees Receive Professional Recognition Awards from National Organizations

Professional Excellence and Diversity Shines Bright at Atlanta Based Company

(ATLANTA) October 03, 2019 – Varec, a leader in bulk liquid management solutions and wholly-owned subsidiary of Leidos, a FORTUNE 500® information technology, engineering, and science leader, announced that three of its employees earned national award recognition this summer. Arnese Foster won the Women of Color (WOC) STEM Technology All-Star award, Caleb Townsend won the Promising Professional award from the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) and Suzanne Saunders was also recognized by SASE, winning the Professional Achievement award. All three were nominated for their respective awards in early 2019.

“I am so proud of Arnese, Caleb and Suzanne and congratulate them on their respective wins. They, along with others that were nominated for awards this year, are truly appreciated for their dedication and contributions toward our continued success as an organization,” says Karl Voepel, President of Varec.

Arnese Foster is one of eight Leidos employees that will be honored at the 2019 WOC STEM conference and awards taking place in Detroit, MI this week. Arnese is currently a Senior Security Systems Engineer where her primary role is to manage deployment projects that include Varec hardware devices and FuelsManager® software at airports. Throughout her long tenure, she has continued to find ingenious ways to meet customers’ needs while also reducing costs for the organization.

Cable Townsend and Suzanne Saunders are two of five Leidos employees recognized by SASE. Both will receive their respective awards as well this month during the 2019 SASE national conference and awards ceremony being held in Pittsburg, PA. Caleb’s award recognizes a professional in the early stages of their career that demonstrates tremendous potential for future contributions. As a software engineer, he has worked to support a variety of projects related to Varec’s FuelsManager software. Caleb has also played an integral role in the development of two new product releases this past year.

Suzanne Saunders is being recognized as a highly experienced, mid-career professional who has made important advances in her career path, has a discipline for achieving high performance and serves as a role model. Suzanne is a Senior Test Engineer and helps ensure that Varec’s terminal automation and aviation software solutions are ready for customer delivery. She has leveraged her expertise to streamline the testing process and mentors junior testers on the team.
