FuelsManager Aviation IntoPlane Express Kiosk Now Deployed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International and Los Angeles International Airports

New Easy-to-Use Touchscreen Kiosk from Varec Helps Into-Plane Providers Better Manage Fuel Operations

June 28, 2017 – Atlanta, GA – Aviation fuels management is now available through an IntoPlane Express kiosk from Varec, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leidos, and leading innovator in the petroleum and chemical sectors. The Varec FuelsManager® Aviation IntoPlane application already has real-time into-plane options, the new kiosk provides a hybrid option that utilizes both automated and manual components for data entry, tracking and reconciliation of daily fuel transactions.

Into-plane providers not utilizing real-time data collection systems at the wingtip often find inventory accountants or office staff bogged down trying to manually process high volumes of fuel tickets each day. Fuelers completing these tickets have to record aircraft and fueling vehicle meter values, perform calculations, accurately fuel the aircraft, and validate their own manual calculations. The following business day, the tickets have to be manually entered by office personnel before daily reconciliation can begin. Knowing it can be cost prohibitive for operations to convert to real-time tracking with handheld devices or mobile computers, Varec looked for a way to bridge the gap with the new kiosk.

With the IntoPlane Express kiosk, fuelers enter their ticket data directly into an easy-to-use touchscreen interface throughout the day. The FuelsManager software validates key data points such as customer information, flight number as well as the starting and ending meter numbers against gross volume to help eliminate com mon human errors. Using this process, inventory accountants and office personnel are able to focus immediately on reconciliation and data analysis each day instead of spending hours deciphering hand written tickets and completing data entry. In March of this year, the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL) was the first site to deploy the kiosk, Los Angeles International Airport went online in mid-June. Additional airport locations are planned by the end of 2017.

“The majority of our FuelsManager customers use the IntoPlane application as a complement to the FuelsManager Accounting application,” says Derek Blagg, Director of Program Management for Varec. “We developed the kiosk to help support sites that were manually processing a large number of transactions each day.”
