Defense Logistics Agency Awards 15-Year Contract to Varec

Leading Technology Provider Extends Fuels Management Support for the U.S. Military

July 15, 2019 – Atlanta – Varec, a leader in bulk liquid management solutions and wholly-owned subsidiary of FORTUNE 500® information technology, engineering, and science leader, Leidos, announced it was awarded a 15-year contract to provide additional fuel management solutions for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract for the Electronic Point-of-Sale (EPoS) and Support Services for Fixed Facility Devices adds to the work Varec already does for DLA.

With complete integration into Varec’s FuelsManager platform of software applications, this program will enable DLA Energy to capture, validate and manage point-of-sale transactions in their current FuelsManager® for Defense (FMD) environment.   FMD is the Accountable Property System of Record (APSR) for DLA Bulk Fuel and has been utilized by DLA for more than 20 years to track and manage its bulk fuel assets at more than 600 bases and other fuel points across the globe. The new combined EPoS system will support both manned and unmanned service stations, ensuring real-time data is captured to provide a fully automated enterprise fuels management system. FuelsManager is also U.S. Department of Defense Risk Management Framework (RMF) approved and all components of the system have been developed to meet or exceed RMF security requirements for software and hardware systems.

Varec has partnered with Gilbarco, the industry leader with over 90 percent market share in the fuel pedestal device market, for this opportunity. Together, Varec and Gilbarco will install and maintain close to 1,000 fuel pedestals with Gilbarco’s next- generation Gasboy Islander Prime device across U.S. military bases worldwide.

“It is very exciting to be able to extend our support for DLA through this new contract,” says Michael White, Vice President of the Mission Operations & Infrastructure Protection Division. “We are committed to continual innovation in the fuels management sector and believe this new solution coupled with other product offerings recently launched within our Varec subsidiary, will position DLA for success for years to come. Congratulations to the entire Varec team for this achievement.”
